Retirement is often painted as a golden chapter, but for many it can feel unsettling. The structure that work provided disappears overnight and the sense of purpose that came with it can seem to vanish. Without daily routines and responsibilities, the days can feel long and unanchored. It is normal to feel a sense of loss during this transition.
The key is to approach retirement as the beginning of a new kind of work: the work of creating a life that fits who you are now. This might mean exploring hobbies you never had time for, volunteering in your community, or learning new skills. The aim is not to fill every hour, but to engage in activities that give you energy and meaning.
As a life coach, I encourage people to see retirement not as the end of something, but as a chance to rewrite their story. You have the freedom to design a chapter that is as rich and full as you choose. Purpose does not retire. It simply shifts into new forms.
Life Coaching Tips:
Set one meaningful goal each month that excites you. It could be learning a skill, starting a project, or giving back to your community. Regular goals create a sense of progress and purpose during this new chapter.
